During winter there are daily bus trips from Oslo, Årdal, Bergen, and Lillehammer to Tyin. From Tyin a weasel will take you to Eidsbugarden/ Fondsbu. You may also ski across lake Tyin. If you arrive without the weasels scheduled timetable, we can arrange transportation by snowmobile. Highway 252 is closed during winter, therefore skiing or travelling by weasel or snowmobile is the only way to get to the hotel. Transportation must be booked beforehand at JVB on phone number (+47) 61 36 59 00. For transportation options contact the hotel at (+47) 61 36 78 15. If you arrive by car, you will find parking at Tyin (fee NOK 65,- per day). From Tyin to Eidsbugarden, you may also ski along a 15 km marked track across lake Tyin. It’s a relatively easy trip in a fantastic terrain! You can possibly send your luggage with the weasel, however this requires departure with full paying guests and must be agreed with JVB in advance.
The weasels are of the type Snowmobile from the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier. They are operated by the transportation company JVB.
Each weasel has approximately 14 seats, and is slightly heated. They follow the road along lake Tyin in a beautiful scenery with great views of surrounding mountain peaks. The journey is about 45 minutes. Visit JVB’s website for more info: JVB-beltebiler
